... a classic style with a unique v-neck feature with off-set pleat. This dolman can be made with both knit and woven fabrics. Easy-fitting means it will be comfy and cool all day long...
The Vivace Dolman comes in three lengths: shirt, tunic and knee-length. I chose to make the knee-length version. It ranges from size XS - 5X and comes with full bust pattern pieces. Using the measurement chart I opted to make size L with a full bust piece. The sleeve is a short dolman style with rolled over hem.
Recommend fabrics for the Vivace Dolman are light to medium weight knits with at least 40% stretch or light to medium weight woven fabrics with good drape. I decided to use a woven that was in my stash. It has a raised stripe and is quite sturdy - not as fluid as the pattern intended but I wanted a more structured finish.
The instructions for the Vivace Dolman are very clear and well laid out with help with printing and constructing the pdf and pattern sizing. There are very clear diagrams to help visualise the steps as well as YouTube tutorials. Constructing the collar pieces takes some time because you have to be precise in order to get the pleat to line up in the correct position. I didn't manage to get this quite right but I'm still happy enough with the finish. Once the collar is done the rest of the construction is very quick and easy. The woven Vivace Dolman has cuffs that are sewn to the sleeve opening and then pressed back into position to mimic a rolled-sleeve finish. My fabric didn't crease well so I sewed it down at quarter points around the cuff.
I'm very happy with my finished Vivace Dolman and have been wearing it three days in a row as its so easy to wear and comfortable. I think I'll be able to wear it in the cooler months too with a turtle neck and funky coloured tights.
Final Thoughts: This is one of those dresses that I will wear all the time - I will definitely make more.
