A Review of the FREE One Yard Tote PDF Pattern by Flosstyle Patterns.
I happily volunteered to test The One Yard Tote by Flosstyle Patterns recently as you can never have too many bags!
The One Yard Tote comes in two sizes: Large and Mini and there is the option to bind the edges. The bags are reversible/lined and are a great opportunity to use up any scraps you have. Recommended fabric is medium weight non stretch wovens like quilting cotton, poplin, drill, denim and linen.
The Large One Yard Tote is described as:
Perfect for groceries, books, laptop, nappies, craft, swimmers etc. Reversible and perfectly sized for A4 folders and books. Just one yard of fabric and 2.25m of bias binding.
I chose to make the Large One Yard Tote with binding. I used a patterned black woven from remnants and lined with bright yellow. I decided to add an inner pocket. I measured what size I wanted the pocket to be and then cut out two pieces (outer and lining) and basted it to the main lining piece. I sewed two rows of stitches down the centre of the pocket to create a divider and added interfacing to the back of the main lining piece for a bit of support.
The rest of the bag comes together really quickly and is a satisfying sew.
Final Thoughts: This is a nice little project for a beginner and would also make a great gift.
