A Review of The Laurel Dress or Tunic Pdf Pattern by Greenstyle Creations.
I've already made three Laurel Dresses but they've been made as Autumn/Winter versions. I really like the pleats below the bodice, pockets and pull on style so decided to make a Summer version.
You will fall in love with the comfort, flexibility and options of this dress.

Recommended fabric is Jersey Knit with at least 25% stretch and I was delighted to find this summery, vibrant fabric at BST Fabrics. BST sell online but also have a large store in South Shields, UK. They sell a huge range of fabrics and haberdashery at reasonable prices - well worth a visit.
The Laurel Dress or Tunic pattern was updated at the beginning of 2021 to include a projector file (as well as A0, A4 and US Letter) with Layers now enabled and is available in sizes XXS - Plus 3X which is full bust 31" - 55".

The Laurel Dress or Tunic pdf pattern includes:
4 Sleeve Lengths - Short, Elbow, 3/4 and Long
3 Skirt Lengths - Tunic, Above Knee and Dress
3 Torso Lengths - Short, Regular and Long.
There is also a Free Add-On which includes a Slouchy Cowl Neck and Regular Neck Binding.

I chose to make an Above Knee Length Laurel Dress with Short Sleeves and Regular Neck. I made mine with the Regular Torso Pattern Pieces.

This pattern is beginner friendly and can be made without a serger. The instructions are quite straightforward and The Laurel Dress or Tunic is very quick and easy to make. I didn't quite follow the instructions though. For example, I sewed up the bodice shoulders, sewed on the sleeves at the head and then sewed the side seams from sleeve hem to bodice hem. This is quicker and easier than 'setting' a sleeve in and you can get away with it with this pattern because the sleeve pieces are symmetrical with no details such as pleats.

I also changed the pocket shape. The pocket in the pattern has a very sharp angle where it is sewn to the skirt - I made this slightly more curved so I can go round it easier with my serger.

I'm really pleased with my finished Summer Laurel Dress. I wore my three Autumn/Winter versions a lot during the cooler months so I'm sure I'll get lots of wear out of this one.
I wore one of my 'Winter' Laurel Dresses in MeMadeMay 2021 - it's made in a thicker jersey with the Slouchy Cowl and Elbow Length Sleeves - pictured below.
