The Invincible Skort was released by Ellie & Mac a few years ago but it never appealed to me because the pictures I saw were of very short shorts with an open long skirt. However, as the pattern was on offer I had another look and realised that it has other options!
Wrap Front or Open Front Skirt
Tall or Standard Waistband
Two Short Lengths.
I chose to make my Invincible Skort with a Tall Waistband, Wrap Skirt and Longer Length Shorts.
The Adult Be Invincible Skort Pattern is love at first sight! I fell in love with the idea of a hi-low hemline skirt with built-in shorts underneath. I love the comfort and ease of this pattern. It can be dressed up for a night out or worn casual for a day running errands. You can make an open skirt look that reveals the short or longer shorts or you can make a wrap front skirt that hides the shorts. Whichever way you decide to wear it, you will be sure to gather compliments along the way!

Although recommended fabric is something 4-way with 50% stretch, I had some Jersey Fabric from poundfabrics.co.uk which I really wanted to use because the reverse is striped too and you can see the reverse with a hi-low hem. It's not 4-way but I just about got away with it. I bought 3 metres of this fabric but managed to cut an XL Skort out of 2 metres by cutting the skirt on the fold and making it slightly shorter. I did this because I thought that I might make a matching top using the remaining metre - not sure if this will be 'too much' though.
The Be Invincible Skort comes in sizes XXS - 6XL which is a waist range of 23.5" to 60". The pattern is drafted for a Curvy Fit Size Chart that is drafted for a height of 5'5"/165.10 cm. The pdf is layered and comes in sizes A4, US Letter, A0 and Projector versions. There is also a Kids Be Invincible Skort available which comes in sizes 12-18 months up to big kid 14.
Making The Be Invincible Skort is really quick and easy and the instructions are clear to follow. There's also a YouTube video to follow if you prefer. The most time consuming task is hemming the skirt because there is a lot of it - I used my twin needle for a neat finish.
I love my finished Skort - the fabric is fun and I'm so happy with the stripes on the reverse. The shorts underneath make it really practical to wear and super comfortable too.
