After my first make of the FREE Curved Hem Pocket Tank Pdf Pattern by Ellie & Mac I knew that this was going to be a staple item in my summer wardrobe and pretty quickly made another one. I really like the shape - I find it skims over the hips and stomach without being overly baggy. The length is great too and the hem skims over the tum and butt.
I'm always attracted to striped fabric but of course that means a bit of extra work when it comes to cutting out the pattern pieces and matching seams. This pattern has a centre back seam (because it is curved) which meant that I had to pay special attention to making sure the striped lines remained horizontal across the back. I sewed these seams directly on my serger so to make sure everything lined up I used clips and wash-away tape.
I did the arm and neck binding in exactly the same way as my first version because I was so happy with the outcome. I cut the binding narrower this time though because I knew I would end up cutting a lot of it away anyway.
I'm really happy with both my Curved Hem Tanks and will make more - hopefully I can source some nice bright jersey with a decent drape.
